New Year’s Resolutions

So every year I make New Year Resolutions, and every year I break them.  I don’t stress about it and in fact I periodically try to get back on track.  This year I decided to set a pretty table at least once a week.  I was inspired by the amazing Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch.   If you haven’t ever been over to her blog, you need to take a peek.  She makes the most gorgeous tablescapes.

Well anyway,  I have seriously shot that goal, but did set a really nice table a few weeks back.

Okay, I’ll admit it — it was more like a month ago.

Check out those cute plates!  I have finally embraced the awesomeness that is Hobby Lobby.  It sorta rubbed me the wrong way at first and I wasn’t very impressed — everything is made in China.  Their dinnerware is just too cool, however, that I had to succumb.

These napkin rings were a Christmas gift from Mom.  I only opened one of the boxes and in fact have the other unopened Christmas present on our coffee table.  I really like to draw out the season.  Hahahahahahaha!

BTW, the meal is my dear friend Christine’s chicken and rice recipe.  It’s super easy to make.  Par boil a package of chicken thighs.  Set aside broth and cut up chicken.  Put back into the pot — chicken, broth and rice — cook for about 20 minutes.  It’s so easy and yummy!  I’ve just started using long grain brown rice and it tastes even better.

Isn’t she precious?  Daisy is such a Daddy’s girl and is much happier now that he is back home.  She loves hanging out with him.  (Scooter is my little shadow.)

Well, we’re finally back home and back to work.  I promise to post pics of all our adventures — and what adventures they were!  I’m still renting a car because Hecate is in serious trouble.  Chuck’s big Ducati died today 3 miles from home and he had to walk his bike all the way home.  I thought he was going to go into cardiac arrest.  (He’s passed out next to me while I type.)  It seems like all the transportation in the Gibson-Rice Family has gone on strike.  We didn’t get the memo, but thank God for Enterprise.

Have a great week everyone!
