Where I Get It From

Here are some photos of the beautiful book my mother made for her good friend Shirley.  Shirley turned 70 a few weeks ago and her daughter asked my mom to make a book commemorating the event.  I loved the different elements my mother used.  I think my favorite is the cake page.  Be forewarned, the pictures of the pages are clear, however the photos on the page are out of focused.  I think those old ladies were drinking a bit too much.  😀

This is the cover of the book.  Isn’t it gorgeous?!  I love the colors and all the cool, funky ribbon.

I know you can’t see the picture on the right, but it is a package of “Depends Undergarments.”  Those crazy ladies!!

Are those feathers not amazing!  I am a little jealous that my mother’s never made ME a cool book like this.

The little yellow sun is made from a Sculpey mold.  I think it is precious.

I love how the graphic on the left frames the photo.  My mom is so clever!

These are the last two pages.  My mother is the one on the far left.  While all the ladies look great, I would have to say that my momma is the most beautiful.  I love this picture.

Some Art

Hi Ya’ll out in cyberland.  This is the first official entry I am making all on my own.  The past entries were courtesy of my super duper partner —  Chucklebutt.  I am almost finished with week one of summer camp and I must say it has worn me out.  I am working for East Valley Children’s Theatre and I have about 60 kids.  We have two weeks to put up a show and it is crazy around here.

Chuck has been busy as well and is getting ready for his big, annual motorcycle rally — The Utah 1088.  He will drive over 1000 miles in a twenty-four hour period throughout Utah, Nevada and Wyoming.  He looks foward to it every year, although every year he never seems to be fully prepared.  I guess that’s what happens when you’re busy with life.

Anyway, I really want to use this blog to talk about some of my projects I’ve been working on.  The following pictures are of a book I made for my aunt and her granddaughters.  I purchased a large boardbook at Goodwill and sanded it down and then painted each page with various colors.  I found a great used book on girly things and clipped out the art to decorate each page.  I was lucky in that there were just enough pages for each granddaughter.  I had a lot of fun making it and hope that they are having a good time adding their pictures to it.

Above are the front cover and the first two pages.

This was Francesca Bella’s page — Mark and Jen’s oldest girl.  I love the lady looking at the “F.”

This is Siena Elizabetta’s page —  Brian and Amy’s youngest child.  I didn’t upload all the photos, because they didn’t come out that clearly.  Hopefully now that I have my own private still life photographer, I’ll have better shots.
