Moulin Rouge

About three weeks ago, my awesome Mamasita flew in from Asheville and we headed out on a wild road trip to Manhattan Beach.  For Christmas, I had given her the gift of Moulin Rouge.  (Well, and let’s be honest, my sweet Chucklebutt helped fund the expedition as well.)  Here is our obligatory pre-adventure pic.

Despite the long drive and a small glitch in traffic due to bridge construction, the journey was uneventful and we made stellar time.  We even missed all the L.A. traffic.  Whew!

We stayed at the Oh-So-Cute Belamar Hotel.  While we were just a few blocks from the beach, we never really stepped off the property.  We were getting our craft on!! 😀  We arrived around 4pm and immediately went to Joy and Cheryl’s martini party.

They served us French Martinis and they were dee-lish-ous.

Being married to a teetotaler, I very rarely imbibe.  Needless to say, my tolerance isn’t that of the average gal.  After 1 and a half (Mom has to watch her intake on account of her meds), I was feeling a bit giggly.  Tee hee!

After the soiree, we went back to our room and prepared for Vendor Night.  The theme of course being “Moulin Rouge.”

This was Kim’s room, but I just had to get a picture of that precious Chihuahua.  Such attitude!

On our way out of town, I told Mom we had to make a pit stop to get some essentials — drinks, snacks and false eyelashes.  A girl has to have her priorities!  This is mama working to put hers on.

Looking glamorous, no?

When we arrived at the reception, we each received a glamorous black fan and 4 free tickets for photos.  Photos for what, you may ask?  Kim hired L.A. Photo to shoot the event and we hammed it up.

We had so much fun!  Incidentally, sweet Leslie from Frilly Frocks made my outfit and part of Mama’s.  If you’re ever in the Phoenix area, you must check out her shop.  It is amazing and you will always find something super cool at her shop.  If you don’t find anything to suit your needs, she can always whip up something with her magic mind and fingers.

After all the shopping we headed back to the room and crashed.  We had an early morning wake up and had to be ready to go by 9am.

Snow & Swaps

So after all the crazy snow in Jerome, guess what Chucklebutt and I were greeted with two Sundays ago?

SNOW!!  Your eyes do not deceive you — that is snow in Apache Junction.  The desert.  Where cacti grow and it’s going to be 90 degrees on Wednesday.  Two weeks ago we had snow and now we’re reaching temperatures common to Hell.  Crikey!

I feel like I’m living in Colorado.

The Superstitions are gorgeous!  Great pic Chuck!

If we had woken up earlier than our per usual 12 in the afternoon, we would have seen a whole lot more.  By 3:00, all of it had melted.  It was a very surreal moment.

During the month of February, I participated in two swaps.  Heather’s annual Petite Inspiration Box Swap is always one of my favorites.  I haven’t had a chance to take pictures of what I received, but the following are the two I made for my partners.

This was Anita’s.

And this one was Wanda’s.  I hope that the gals enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed making them.

The other swap I participated in was Julie’s Canvas Collage Swap.  Mama Puff and I are getting ready to head to beautiful Manhattan Beach to participate in Kim’s Moulin Rouge event.

We are super excited and have been playing dress up for the past three days.  It is going to be so decadent I can’t wait.

Anyhoo, I had to make 12 3X3 collage squares.   Spoiler alert!  These are mine:

Happy Monday everyone!
PS: I realized yesterday that my blog banner says Merry Christmas.  I promise to change it as soon as Chucklebutt gets back from Daytona.  In the meantime, be sure to check out Mama Puff’s blog and all her adventures with Buddy.  😀
