I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I was sad to be away from my momma, but I had some friends over for dinner and we had a very enjoyable time. This was only the second year I tried to make gravy. Oh the stress of gravy!Check it out Ma! Can’t say I didn’t try. I think I put a bit too much cornstarch in it, but Chucklebutt gobbled it up and wouldn’t let me throw away the leftovers. I guess that’s a good sign. Truth be told, the bird was sooooo moist and tender that it didn’t need anything.Once our friends arrived, the girls proceeded to be antisocial for the entire afternoon. Even chubby Daisy managed to squeeze herself under the bed. Once everyone left, they decided to grace us with their presence. Boy was I pooped. Turkey, Stuffing, Oyster Casserole, Homemade Cranberry Sauce, Sweet Potato Casserole and Green Beans. Yum-EEE! My friend Lori brought the pies. Double yum-eeee!! I think the left overs might be calling right now. 😀How did we end our day? By watching this really disturbing movie. If you haven’t seen it — you must! It is very educational and pretty frightening. I can’t decide if I am glad I didn’t see it before dinner or not — genetically modified turkey anyone?Happy Thanksgiving! We miss you Momma! (And all our other friends who are so far away — you know who you are!)For quite sometime, I have had a vision for our bedroom. I couldn’t quite articulate it, but I knew it would include a tree such as this:These pics were taken in my favorite store EVER — Honeysuckle Hollow. If you are ever in the Asheville/Hendersonville NC area, you will have to stop in. The gal that owns this enchanting store is Jan de la Rosa and she is one of my artistic idols. I love this store so much that when Mom picks me up from the airport, our first stop is always Honeysuckle Hollow — even when I take the red-eye! For as long as I can remember, this tree has been a part of her store. I have always loved it and wanted to incorporate something similar into my own decor. This summer, one of my favorite trees died. Mom gave me the brilliant idea to chop off some of the branches and use them in our bedroom. Chuck thought we were nuts but he obliged willingly. Like most things around here, it took us a while to complete the project. Chuck sprayed the branches — we sure don’t want any critters sneaking into our abode — and on Sunday we found a lovely home for them next to our bed.As you can well imagine, Scout was intrigued by our new addition. So my vision is not yet complete — I still have a bit of tweaking to do — but I am very pleased with the beginnings. I love sitting in the chair, surrounded by branches and reading a good book. I feel like I’m in the woods. Chuck, on the other hand, is baffled that we have a dead tree in our bedroom. 😀BTW — yes that is a fire extinguisher you see in our room. No, our romance is not so smoking we need something to put out the fire. Actually, I think it is quite dreadful looking, but alas I married an Eagle Scout — always be prepared and whatnot. We have one in every room. I told Chuck we need to move it because it is ugly. He so astutely reminded me that we now have a dead tree growing in our bedroom with an electrical light in the middle. Bwahahahahahaha! Nothing like living dangerously! I guess he knows what he’s talking about. 😀 Thanks Baby for going along with my crazy whims!PS: Has anyone been watching The Prisoner? Chucklebutt loves it and it’s driving me nuts. What a whacked out show. |
