When I was in L.A., I had the opportunity to visit with my dear friend Paula. I have not seen her in three years, but we fit right together as if it had been only last week. She was gracious enough to take me down to Redondo Beach to hang out with her folks and celebrate her mother’s confirmation as an Episcopalian. Jianulla and Arnie are such fun people! The last time I saw them, they taught me to play the fast-paced game of Pit. Arnie is from NY and reminds me of my Uncle Peter — always into something. Apparently he hurt his arm playing racket ball and we took him to his friend’s office to get an x-ray. BTW, his friend is a veterinarian. Only Arnie would go to the vet to get an x-ray. Too funny!
For those of you that have never been to Redondo Beach, it is an absolutely precious town. It’s a small beach community and Paula is very lucky to have grown up just a few blocks from the beach.
Her mother’s church is just a few blocks from their home. It’s so quaint — like something out of a movie. The Bishop of Los Angeles was visiting and Paula and I watched them play a pretty hilarious game of croquet. Afterwards, we headed next door for a reception and I went crazy taking pictures. It’s an old Victorian and gorgeous! Please bare with me. There are a lot of photos and I took them primarily for my mother who also likes old homes. Enjoy!
It is just like a dollhouse! Check out all that gingerbread trim.
Talk about a spread of food! Pretty much everyone in the congregation brought yummilicious treats. My favorites were the cucumber sandwiches and the rum trifle.
The couple that owns the home are an older couple and they pretty much gutted the entire house. The stain glass in their home was off the hook!
I love this angel. I think there’s a name for this style, but I forgot what it was.
I love the breakfast nook. Check out the chandelier.
Too cool! A fireplace in the kitchen.
Downstairs guest bedroom.
These next few shots are from the guest bedroom bathroom. It was filled with arches which were amazing.
Sunken tub with jets. Can you imagine?
Stain glass in bathroom.
This is a nursery — they have lots of grandkids.
I took this photo for Chuck. The shower controls look like a flight board for NASA! Holy Cow! With that shower, you can get every crevice cleaned. 😀
Upstairs sitting area.
There are two outdoor porches upstairs. This is at the front of the house.
Right across the street is the fire department and a few blocks from that is the Pacific Ocean. You can see it in the distance.
I love how the tub is smack-dab in the center of the room.
I love fairies!
Crikey!! They have a gazebo on the SECOND floor!
This is looking back into their master bedroom. Oh yeah, and you know that they also have a big jacuzzi outside on the second floor.
Did I mention that they have a guest house out back?
The guest house kitchen is bigger than my own at home!
While the home was absolutely gorgeous — and were someone to give me a Victorian, I wouldn’t refuse it — I am more of an old Farm house kind of gal. However I did have some serious puppy dog envy.
OMG!!! I want this dog. Doesn’t she look like she’s smiling?
This is me and my friend Paula. While this pic does nothing for me, I think Paula looks so darn cute I had to post it. I teased her and said that Chucklebutt could shave some of the fat off of my arms in photoshop. I decided to post it in sepia — oh yeah, sepia makes me look like a waif. hahahahahahahaha! I miss you Paula! Come visit in sunny AZ!
Have a great weekend everyone!
