Belated Birthday Gifts

Most of you know that my birthday was well over a month ago. Chucklebutt and I went to Payson and had an awesome time. Due to our busy schedules, however, Chuck never gave me my official birthday gift. I knew it was from Mystic Paper because I could see the bag in our weight room. Periodically, I would give him a hard time about it, and then promptly forget it was even there. That is, until I found a groovey chandelier at a flea market. The gals at Mystic Paper are offering an amazing class on creating a tea cup chandelier. I’ve always wanted to do that and am super excited. I told Chuck that I would need my birthday gift ASAP. So, on Wednesday morning I was greeted with this:

He does such a good wrapping job! He admitted that the "love" was a bit tricky. Who knew that Chucklebutt was in to altered art. ๐Ÿ˜€ Apparently there were no tiles with the letter "L" so he bought a stack of flash cards. I asked him were he got the red ink and he informed me that he has his own stash of craft "stuff," including stamps and ink. OMG he is too cute!! Look what he did on the back of the envelope.

And here’s an "artsy" photo of it all.

Aside from that, we’re just plugging along. My shows are going well and I’m really pleased with the kids. I should have some photos to show everyone soon. Chuck is also working on two shows (sound) and is more wanted in the theatre community than I am. I promise I’m not jealous. ๐Ÿ˜€ I wonder if anyone in the banking industry wants me? hahahahahahahaha! We all know how that’s going. (For those of you that don’t know, Chuck’s "real" job is with Bank of America. He’s a systems admin and as you can imagine, work is pretty grueling.)

We saw some good movies this weekend and some not-so-good ones. "The Happening" was pretty disappointing, but "Run Fat Boy Run" was great. Chucklebutt even got teary eyed. Mind you that’s not saying a lot, because he’ll cry during just about anything. That’s why I love him. He’s such a softee!

Hope everyone has a great week. Tonight is my favorite show — "True Blood." It’s about vampires in Mississippi. The main character is Soukie. I love saying that name. It’s on HBO, but we download it from the Internet.

I leave everyone with my last Polyvore creation.

Look Ma! I’m Published!

Okay, okay.  So Somerset Memories has been out since the first of October, and I am only now blogging about it.  Even the gals at Mystic Paper were on the ball and gave me a shout out.  Thanks ladies!  ๐Ÿ™‚  Finally, my publishing debut!

I have the first article in the Oct/Nov issue of Somerset Memories.  It is a Halloween book about Chuck’s mother.  I used great black and white photos of her when she was a young girl and women.  I had such a fun time creating this piece and feel so honored that they chose to feature it.

Daisy wasn’t nearly as impressed with my accomplishment.  Noticed that she’s sitting on a copy of it as well.

Sunday night I attempted to recreate Mike’s groovey beeswax collage.  My friend Grace just turned 50 and I wanted to make a collage from her modeling photo.    I have high hopes but . . . Argggggghhhhhh!  So it’s sorta like when you go to the hair salon.  You can never recreate the look that your stylist did at home.  I had no problem with the beeswax part, but the iron I purchased at Joann’s sucked.  You can see it in the picture.  Curse you little pink Tulip iron!!  Yesterday I went to Mystic Paper and purchased a craft iron.  Hopefully I’ll have much more luck with it.

Finally, look what I found at Half Priced Books!

A whole slew of Somerset Studio and Legacy magazines.  They were only a dollar each!  I was so excited I thought I had hit the jack pot!  I love all of Stampington’s publications.  They just make me so happy.  I could read them for hours and they never get old.

Well I’m going to go eat a piece of Kentucky Pie.  Yummy!  I made one tonight and it just came out of the oven.  Oh yeah, and if you want to see a great movie, rent "Death at a Funeral."   Chucklebutt and I laughed our heads off.
