We Made Contact!

Last week, we made official contact with Remy.  I don’t think he was very impressed with us and I haven’t seen him since.  Perhaps a little groping was all he needed to find another home.  We have had tremendous rain here in the valley and I was checking on the grill to see if it was completely flooded.  Low and behold, our little rodent friend was home and Chucklebutt and I gave him a little pet.  I think what really got him, however, was when Chuck decided to pick him up . . . by his TAIL!  He was not amused and I think I could hear him shouting, "MY TAIL! MY TAIL!  THEY’VE GOT MY TAIL!"  Don’t worry, it didn’t hurt him, but like I said, I haven’t seen him since.

Because of all the rain, we’ve had some most unusual visitors.

Holy Cow!  That has got to be the biggest frog/toad I have ever seen.

Hey look!  It’s the Keeper of the Frog.  (It’s weird Chucklebutt humor and I think only Christine will get it.)  You’ll have to excuse the photos.  We took them with our camera phones.  We were coming in late one night, and he was sitting outside our door.  Like Remy, he wasn’t very impressed with us either.  As soon as Chuck picked him up, he promptly peed everywhere.  He was so cool!

Well, Chucklebutt is getting ready for his big run around the United States.  Five days, five thousand miles.  Whew! Better him than me.  I’ve been helping him plot out his route and so has Scout.

Isn’t she cute?  Our girls are so funny.  As soon as they see papers laid out, they must be sitting on them.  It’s a weird feline thing.

This picture cracks me up.  It looks like she’s contemplating the red flag at the tip of Florida.  For 3500 points, Chuck could tear ass down to Key West during his run.  Scooter is probably thinking that’s not the best idea on account of Gustav.  Don’t worry, he isn’t going there.

Now Daisy gets in on the act.

Psst Scout!  You smell good.

Anyway, he is heading out in another two hours — which will make it 12am Monday.  He always pushes it to the last minute.  He has to check in by 5pm up in Salt Lake.  He’s got a 14 hour drive ahead of him and he hasn’t had a nap.  Sigh.

On a better note, most of his test results came back great.  Apparently the tech read his kidney ultra sound incorrectly and he doesn’t have a blockage.  Yipee!  He does have  a "fatty liver" and can control it with diet and excercise.  He also just had another PSA test done and we should hear the results next week.  So, it seems to be a kink in the road of life, but not a major detour.

I’m fading, but thought I’d leave folks with some of my new found treasures.  I didn’t go thrifting the entire month of July.  So I had to make up for it in August.  😀

I got the old children’s book for a quarter at the Lutheran Thrift Store.  It’s dated 1929.

I love old mismatched china pieces.  They make for a real pretty table setting.

I’m ready to have a tea party!  Who wants to join me?

Is there anything better than old sheet music?  I love it!

Well, I need to go take a nap before I help Chuck focus his head lights.  Sounds naughty, but it isn’t.

Have a Safe and Happy Labor Day everyone.

I think I may need treatment…

So I’ve spent about 3 hours today on Polyvore and I sucked Chuck in for another one hour. That’s a total of 4 hours. Yipes! Despite that, I have had a pretty productive day. I took my residents to the local ABC Studios to watch Sonoran Living Live. We were told we should leave by 7am, so I had to be up by 5:45 so I could be on the road by 6:20. I actually got up at 6:00 and still managed to make it out the door. I had never watched the show, and it was a lot of fun being a part of a studio audience. For some reason, I thought it was going to be taped and aired another day, but it was live. I guess the whole Sonoran Living LIVE, should have been a dead give away. My residents started fretting because we had no one taping it. I whipped out my phone and called Chucklebutt who got the job done. He was still asleep when I called (on account he went to bed at 4:30am) so was a bit iffy on the whole set-up. When he turned on 15, GMA was still on and they were reporting live from NY. He knew we didn’t hop a lear jet to NYC for the morning, so after flipping back and forth, finally managed to make it back to the right channel. They were showing the studio audience (comprised mostly of white-hairs) and Chuck was like, “aaaahhhhhaaaa! Old People! Is Nicole amongst them?” Sure enough I was! 😀

It’s sorta like “Where’s Waldo?”  Can you spot me?

The two gals that are standing were the hosts of the show.  I can’t remember their names.  They were very sweet and gracious and my residents had a ball.  Incidentally, the gal in purple  is so tiny, I wanted to give her a burger right there on the spot!

Here’s the camera man who was filming us throughout.  The show consists of all sorts of segments — fashion, food, beauty, etc. and we got great take home gifts.  Nothing like being on Oprah, but still fun stuff.  Once we left the studio, we all decided we would take a nap.  I had nothing planned for the rest of the day except a dinner outing, so I thought a nap was a great idea.  And that’s exactly what most of the residents did.  I took Chuck with me to dinner on account of all the ladies loving Chucklebutt.  Who wouldn’t?  He’s so cute and lovable!

Tomorrow, we have a pretty busy day.  Chuck is leading a photo-walk in downtown Tempe and then we are all going out to eat with the photographers.  See this for more info.  It’s going to be hot as hell, and I’m thinking it might be a great time to duck into all the great shops on Mill.  One of my favorite bookstores is going out of business and I may try and pick up a few deals.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I saw Remy running around today, and I think Chuck and I are going to have to get a little aggressive with him.  I’m not really sure what that means, but rest assured, he will live to see another day — just maybe in an undisclosed location far from our property.  Of course he could be telling all his family members about his sweet crib and then I don’t know what we’ll do.

Have a great weekend everyone!  Thank you for all your positive words and prayers regarding Chuck’s health!  It means a lot to us to know we have such great friends and family.  Sweet Dreams!
