Easter in Wilmington

Since next week is Memorial Day, I figured I better get crackin’ and post my Easter pics from my awesome trip to Wilmington, North Carolina.  But before I do that, check out the wreath I made.  I put it on Etsy and the next day my mama called me and said she wanted to by it.

I have developed this affinity for bunnies.  I’m not sure where it comes from, but gosh I sure do love bunnies!

The only thing better than bunnies is vintage bunnies!   😀

We’ve had such a beautiful spring here in Arizona.  The weather has been perfect — 70’s and 80’s — although it is supposed to reach the 100’s this week.  Poop.  Oh well, we almost made it to June without oppressive heat.

Anyhoo, for Easter weekend, I traveled to beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina to visit my dear friend Christine.  I haven’t seen her in three years and it was great just hanging out in our jammies and playing with her dogs.

There she is with her doggie brood.  From left to right — Lily, Jackson and Skittles. After visiting Christine,  I’ve come up with a brilliant new business plan — she needs to rent out her couch for 50 bucks and hour.  Her couches are so comfy and her animals are so loving, that it is much cheaper than therapy.  At the end of the hour, you don’t have to worry about walking dogs, feeding them, training them, vet bills, etc.  I was lucky to experience the love all weekend long.

Jackson — who is sitting on my chest — was a bit aggressive with the kissing.  He loved giving licks.

This was my favorite gal.  She was a great spooner.

Isn’t she gorgeous?  You just want to know what she’s thinking.

And if doggies aren’t your style, then head out to her porch and you have super sweet kitties!  She has a regular menagerie.

On Saturday we went to one of my favorite restaurants.

It’s right on the Cape Fear River and I do believe they have the best Key Lime Pie EVER!  The hostess thought we were sisters.  Do you think it was our matching mustaches?

Yeah, I’ve discovered Picnicks on Picasso.

They also have crowns and tiaras.  Doesn’t she look cute?

Sunday we celebrated Easter with a yummilicious meal of ham, deviled eggs, green bean casserole and German potato salad.

Oh yeah, and the Easter Bunny came and delivered personalized Easter baskets.  Too cute!

I love mine!  Chucklebutt loved all the candy.

Check out that piggy bank.  So appropriate for me!

Don’t you love the doll’s hair on fire?

Eat More Cake!  Can’t argue with that.  I look forward to using the mini cupcake papers.

So cute!

Our family Easter picture.  😀

That night we went out and played pool with some of her friends.  Luckily NONE of us were any good.  It took us a while to finish a game.

Of everyone, I think Christine had the most mad skillz.  Later I found out that Chucklebutt is a bit of a pool shark.  Alas, he wasn’t with us.  Where’s a pool shark when you need one?

Flying back home was a bit of a chore.  Usually I connect in Atlanta, but this time I had to go to NY.  Weather prevented us from landing on time and to make a real long story short, I had to spend the night in JFK Airport.  It was pretty lonely at gate 86 — just me and two birds.  Can you see them in the picture?  They were really cute.  After hours of playing Angry Birds, I finally fell asleep around 4am.  I flung a blanket over my head, and the next thing I knew it was 5:30am and the airport was full of business men ready for Tuesday.  As I emerged from my chrysalis, I looked something like a strung out Little Orphan Annie.  Hair in matted braids.  Three layers of wrinkled clothes.  And of course a precious Easter basket inscribed with my name.  I too was ready for Tuesday.  😀

Thank you Christine for a wonderful time!  (BTW, this is us right before we saw Insidious.  It was a a fun movie and per usual, I watched most of it with my hands over my eyes.  Don’t we look like muppets?)
