Chuck is a mumbler! For those of you who don’t know, Chuck and I have been arguing for the past two years about my hearing. He was convinced I was going deaf where as I was certain he was a mumbler. My mother is deaf in her right ear and my best friend has had significant hearing loss, due to a childhood illness, so pretty much all the people I talk to on a regular basis have some sort of hearing impairment. Chuck had me convinced that I was just part of the gang. That is until last week when I had my hearing tested. With the exception of me misunderstanding the word “horse” for “whore,” I passed with flying colors. When I asked the doctor what I should tell my husband, she said he needs to stop mumbling. HAHAHAHAHA! To celebrate, I went home and enjoyed a nice Q-tip.
Not too much has been happening in my neck of the woods. I have settled back into working at the recreation center in the mornings and teaching/directing in the afternoons. All my classes are full and I have a cast of 18 actors in one troupe and am working with 6 in the other. The smaller troupe is my intergenerational group and I was hoping for a larger cast but am still excited. Friday nights I am free, so Chuck and I have designated it “Lake-Date Night.” We live 13 miles from Canyon Lake and have started taking advantage of their swimming area. Each time we have been there, we have had the whole area to ourselves. It’s really pretty and a perfect way to end the day. The pics are a bit blurry, but you get an idea of the land.
Aren’t his swimming shoes cute?
The canyon colors are gorgeous during this time of the day.
Other news worthy highlights of the week — we had an unexpected guest visit our porch.
He’s a Harris Hawk and they are very prevalent in the Sonoran Desert. I am sad to say that I did not get to see him. Luckily Chuck works from home and was able to catch these great photos. All the little critters in our yard hightailed it out of there as soon as he swooped down.
Chuck told me that Scooter (our more adventursome kitty) was very wary of the visitor. Normally she looks ready to pounce on all the little animals. This day she knew she had met her match.
Finally, for any interested artsy fartsy folks, here are some scrapbook pages I’ve been working on. The photos are blurry, but you get the idea.
I love the use of crepe paper on this page. The fibers I found at Goodwill.
I really like how the park map is integrated into this page.
I got the idea for tying the ribbon around the cardstock from one of the books I bought in Asheville. I really like this technique and will probably incorporate it more often — especially since I have a slew of ribbon. Hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to do some more work on this book.
I hope everyone has a great weekend — be safe and well!
Great job!!! The pictures in the scrapbook look wonderful. Keep up the great work.I’m going to luch with Doris today. Will try to call later. \Love Mom
I can’t hear and I hear Chucklebutt just fine. I think you just have selective hearing….lol. Perhaps you need to think about that…..I love you guys. The canyon looks heavenly. Wish I could go…it would sure beat the UNCW pool.
