I’ve been meaning to write about this for quite some time but keep forgetting. I’m going to be published in my favorite art magazine!! Somerset Studio:
I usually don’t do New Year’s resolutions, however this year I promised myself I would submit some of my art to the publication. I love all things Halloween and decided to create an altered book about Chuck’s mother. A few weeks ago I received an email from one of the editor’s asking for an article on my piece — 3 pages!! It will be featured in the September/October issue. I was so excited I about wet my pants.
That gave me the courage to submit another piece for their Holiday issue. I created a three dimensional advent calendar from a chest of cabinets I found at Goodwill. I haven’t heard back yet, but I thought I would post a few sneak peaks.
You’ll have to excuse the coloring in the photo. I took these shots quickly before I shipped it off with Chuck to be mailed. That’s another interesting story. I love the crepe paper sugar plum. It looks good enough to eat. I braved my sewing machine in order to make it.
Chuck was kind enough to mail this for me. Unfortunately I forgot to give him necessary paper work and he had to track me down at camp. He did some research on line and found a UPS store that specializes in wrapping delicate things. Chuck said the man that worked on it was like an artist. It took him almost two hours to complete the packing. At the conclusion, the box was gigantic. I wish I could have been there when the folks at Somerset received it. Hopefully nothing was broken. My biggest worry was the Shiney Bright ornament would not make it safely. I should be receiving word soon that they got it. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
I love you guys! And I would absolutely bail you out of jail if I had to fly out there to do it…lol. Love you bunches and miss you more. Chuckles 🙂
I love your Advent calendar!!! What a beautiful piece of art work. I can’t imagine them not publishing a least a picture of the calendar. Mom
