Lately, my mental state has been pooey. Chucklebutt says it’s the heat, and I tend to agree with him. I was trying to explain to some folks the other day that the Valley in summertime is like the winters back home. All I want to do is sleep — not even eat really, it’s too hot for that. For the past few days, we’ve had excessive heat warnings. Temps have soared well above 100 and the humidity is kickin my butt. We can’t do anything outdoors and it’s really depressing. Oh yeah, and the economy is spinning out of control. We’ve been playing with numbers to see if it’s feasible to move back to Asheville — it’s not. Homes comparable to ours are going well over 500K. Who can afford that?! Not to mention homes in AZ aren’t selling at all. Cause who want to live in HELL!! Yeah, I’m feeling pooey.
Despite that, however, I discovered something in our garden to cheer me up the other day. He was just sitting there cute as can be. He told me his name is Prince Edmund and that the weather was wilting his wings. Naturally I scooped him up and found a home for him near my more precious books.
I think he might be “memory-keeper” fairy. He’s pretty quiet and likes to sleep amidst the feathers all day.
Although I’ve noticed some bees hanging around him, so maybe he’s a beekeeper.
I’m glad he likes his new home and I hope that he stays around at least for a little bit.
In other news, check out what I purchased from ebay a few weeks ago. I am sooooooooo excited to work with these gals, although I have yet to figure out how to cut off the excess porcelain.
Copious amounts of Charlotta doll heads!! I’m in seventh heaven.
They freak Chuck out, but I think they are simply wonderful. They were unearthed from an old doll factory in Germany and date pre-1930’s. What am I going to do with them? I have a few ideas, but for now I just love looking at them.
This is what Sally Jean has down with them and I really like the idea.
Her book “Pretty Little Things” is awesome and a great addition to my library of ever growing crafts books.
The amazing Lisa Kaus also has great ideas for the dollies. Another book I purchased recently is:
Sorry for the glare. I’m really interested in starting my own etsy shop and thought this might have some nice pointers about selling my wares. I’m not at that point yet, but hopefully within the next year I will take things to another level.
While in Vegas over the 4th, I picked up this treasure for a song. It has marvelous images that I would like to use in my art.
Don’t you just love that owl? It reminds me of Halloween.
I love pussycats.
Finally, while the weather here is unbearable and the economy is in the toilet, at least blueberries were on sale last week. My mother sent me a delicious recipe for cold blueberry soup. It is yummilicious.
Boil 2 cups of water, a pint of blueberries, a cinnamon stick, a lemon wedge, and half a cup of sugar. Let cool and blend in a blender. Mix in 1 cup of sour cream and ooooooooowweeeeeeeeee. It’s so good.
Well, I’m going to go scoot and enjoy my Saturday. Last night I bought the new Artemis Fowl book.
I’m a huge fan. So I plan on relaxing and reading and eating ice cream. Have a great weekend everyone!
The soup looks good. Enjoy your Saturday. Mom
Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind words. They do mean a lot. Love all your doll heads. They look great in the basket
