Labor Day Weekend Adventure

While Chucklebutt headed to Vegas for Photoshop World, Mom and I headed north to Sedona and Oak Creek.  We stayed at my favorite place in all of Arizona:

If you are looking for an incredible Bed & Breakfast, this is it.  It’s situated on 9 acres of property in gorgeous Oak Creek.  While it is a bit pricey, it is definitely worth it.

This is the entrance to our cabin — Treetop.  Chuck and I had stayed here before and I splurged and got it for Mom and I.

I love the old saloon style door.  Unfortunately, it was way too hot to leave the windows open.

A view from the inside looking out.  Mom was not impressed with the heat.  She was moist (like a Duncan Hines Brownie) all weekend.  She said she was glistening — after all she is from the south.  😀

We both loved the beds!  They were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept on.  We spent a lot of time in them catching up on all of our reading.

A view of the courtyard.

Our cabin had a full kitchen which was super nice.

One evening while we were relaxing and visiting, Mom noticed something on the ceiling.  I immediately freaked out and wouldn’t look at it.  Turns out it was a decent sized spider.  I told her I couldn’t kill it.  Chuck is the designated bug whisperer in our family.  Mom took matters into her own hands and promptly flattened that critter with her shoe.  I told her she was my hero.  Truly!  I don’t know what I would have done if she hadn’t been there.  😀

I think the best part of the whole Briar Patch Experience is the grounds.

Check out all that greenery!

I don’t know what this flower is, but it was everywhere.

The local lawnmowers!  Too cute.

There were benches and hammocks everywhere.  Plus we had our own swimming hole which I went to everyday.  In my previous life, I think I may have been a river otter.  That is definitely where I am happiest — bobbing along the current of a creek or river.

The other great thing about the Briar Patch is the breakfasts — with live music each morning!

They make some of the best homemade granola and their quiches are muy yummy.

Each morning we ate down by the creek.  Decadent and relaxing.

A view from our breakfast table.

Sigh.  Too bad every weekend couldn’t be a Briar Patch Weekend.

Stay tuned to see what trouble we could get into.  Hint:  Mom was able to mark this off her bucket list.

Now, aren’t you glad I took all those pictures of the inside of our cabin? Now I don’t know what to blog.

What a great way to spend a weekend! This weekend Cameron and I (with LOADS of help from the Moretz parentals) moved 90% of the current Moretz-Lowry household content to Summerville, SC. http://www.vistasands.com
Talk about glistening… I was positively shiny!

  • Looks like you & Momma had a marvelous time! I haven’t visited in ages (since Petticoats & Parasols)& thought I would POP in on you. Glad you are out playing & living it up. For your info sweets… the orange flower is a trumpet vine from the looks of the photo. Kind of in the Carolina Jasmine family. But much bigger blooms. I’m off to Round Top next week & will be looking for those Magnolia Pearl bloomers. I hope they look as cute on me as they do on you! HUGS!
